Questions people ask.
What is Chaana?
Chaana is the directory and community app for the Nepali community in Australia. It has a public directory of Nepali-owned and Nepali-friendly businesses, and a members-only app for rooms, jobs, events, the Saath community feed and an Arrival Checklist for newcomers.
Is Chaana free?
Yes to join, browse and post rooms, jobs, businesses, events and Saath posts. The only paid option is Featured, a 7-day boost for business listings and job ads, priced from a few dollars a week and shown before you pay. Featured listings are labelled, and rooms cannot be boosted.
Do I need an account?
Yes, for the app. Everything in the app, including browsing, needs a free account with an email and password. The business directory can be browsed on the website without one.
Can I chat with someone inside the app?
No. Chaana has no in-app messaging. Tapping Message, WhatsApp or Call opens your phone's SMS app, WhatsApp or dialler with a polite message already written; for public discussion, use Saath.
Is the Chaana app in Nepali?
The app's menus are in English. The Arrival Checklist shows each step's title in Nepali too, and members write in whichever language they like.
Where does Chaana work?
Across Australia. Every board can be scoped to your suburb, your state or the whole country.
The directory on the web. The rest in the app.
Businesses are public so anyone can find them. Rooms, jobs, events, Saath and the Arrival Checklist are in the app, where the people using them have signed in.
