No promises. Just what is in the app.

Anyone can write the word trusted on a homepage. Below is the list of things actually built into Chaana that protect the people using it, how to report something when it is wrong, and the right number to call when it is serious.

What is actually in the app.

Every point here is something you can find inside Chaana today, on the screen where it matters.

  • A Scam Alert category built into Saath

Saath has its own Scam Alert category. When someone warns the community about something that just happened to them, it is easy to find, easy to reply to, and a pinned alert surfaces on the home screen so it is seen the same day.

  • Report from the card itself

Every business, room, job, event, post and comment carries a flag. Reports reach the Chaana team, and the person you report does not see who reported them.

  • Rooms stay off the open web

Rooms, jobs and Saath live inside the app, behind sign-in. Room addresses are not indexed by search engines, and phone numbers are never printed on listings: they sit behind the Call, Message and WhatsApp buttons.

  • Warnings written for this community

Each Arrival Checklist step carries the specific warning that belongs to it: TFN application fees, sharing a TFN in a WhatsApp group, a phone contract put in your name for someone else.

  • Safety notes where the risk is

Room listings carry "never pay before viewing" and job listings carry "never pay money upfront for a job" on the browse screen itself, not buried in a help page.

  • A safety check before you make contact

Before you message, call or WhatsApp a room or job poster, a safety note appears. It turns into "Take extra care", with the reasons listed, when the account is under a week old, the listing asks for money to hold a room or for job fees, the rent is implausibly low, or the pay is under $20 an hour. Jobs paid on an ABN always add a notice on what ABN pay means. The note never blocks you from going ahead.

  • A warning, then a pause, then a block

When a report is upheld, the content comes down and the poster gets a strike. Three strikes within 90 days go to the team for review. A first breach means a 30-day suspension with their listings hidden. After that the account is banned, and its email and phone cannot be used to sign up again.

  • Private addresses by default

A business shows its suburb, not its street, unless the owner switches the address on, and its map pin is moved 150 to 300 metres. People looking for work only ever show their suburb.

Three taps to report it.

Reporting is anonymous to the person being reported. The most useful thing you can do for the next person is flag it while you still remember the details.

  1. 1

Tap the flag on the listing or post

It sits on the card itself, on every business, room, job, event, Saath post and comment. You do not have to find a form.

  2. 2

    Pick a reason

Choose a quality or safety reason, such as "Asking for money upfront". Three safety reports hide a listing automatically until the team has looked at it.

  3. 3

    The team reviews it

Flagged content can be hidden or removed while it is being reviewed. The person you reported is never shown who reported them.

If it is serious, these come first.

These are Australia's official public services. They are not part of Chaana, and for anything on this list they are the right place to go, not a community feed.

  • Life-threatening emergency

Call 000 for ambulance, police or fire. If you need a Nepali interpreter, say "Nepali" when the operator answers.

  • Wages you are owed

Fair Work Ombudsman, or the anonymous online report at fairwork.gov.au.

  • Sexual violence, harassment or domestic abuse

1800RESPECT. Confidential, 24 hours, interpreter available.

  • Mental health support

Lifeline, 24 hours. Beyond Blue is on 1300 22 4636, also 24 hours.

  • Consular help

Nepal Embassy Canberra publishes its on-call contact numbers at au.nepalembassy.gov.np.

Every report helps the next person.

Three safety reports hide a listing until the Chaana team has looked at it. Flagging something takes ten seconds.
