We built the thing we wished existed when we arrived.

Chaana is a directory of Nepali businesses across Australia, and a community app for rooms, jobs, events and the checklist that gets a newcomer set up in their first month here.

A roof the community builds for each other.

The knowledge already exists. It is just scattered.

Almost everyone who moves here has the same first few months. You need a place to sleep, work that pays properly, a phone plan, a bank account, a doctor, and rice that tastes like home. Every one of those things comes down to the same question: who can I trust with this?

The answer is usually somewhere in the community already. Someone knows a mechanic who will not overcharge you. Someone knows which grocer stocks the right spices. Someone found a GP who does not make them feel rushed. That knowledge is real. It is just scattered across Facebook groups, buried in posts that disappear after a few days, and none of it is searchable when you actually need it.

Chaana gathers it into one place, permanently and searchably: a directory anyone can search, a community feed where people ask the questions they cannot ask out loud, and a checklist built for the moments in a newcomer's first month that quietly cost the most when they go wrong.

It was built for Australia from the start, not translated from an app made for another country and relabelled for this market.

If one person avoids being underpaid, overcharged or taken advantage of because of something they found here, the whole thing has paid for itself.

The idea behind Chaana

Honest about how we work.

Three things worth stating plainly, before you have to go looking for them.

Listing is free

Listing a business on Chaana costs nothing. Businesses and employers can pay to feature a business or job ad for 7 days; featured cards carry a Featured badge. Rooms can never be featured.

Rooms and jobs stay in the app

Those listings involve people’s homes and livelihoods, so they belong among people who are known to each other rather than surfaced to search engines.

Ratings come from members

Ratings are written by people using the app. We do not fabricate them, and a star rating only appears once a business actually has reviews.

Know a business that belongs here?

If a business has looked after you, the best thing you can do for the next person is make sure they can find it too.
