I built Chaana because I needed it myself.

I'm Roshan Uchai. I found my first job through a Facebook group. I found my first room through a Facebook group. Both times it worked, and both times it was much harder than it should have been. Chaana is what I wish existed on those days.

Full stack developer in Sydney. Founder of Chaana.

Four things that kept happening to me.

These are not complaints about any one group or app. This is simply what kept happening to me, and why I decided to build something myself.

Good posts disappear in minutes

In a busy group, a room or a job is pushed down the page within an hour. The person who needed it never sees it. The person who posted it gives up and posts again the next day.

Paid posts sit on top

On some platforms the listings you see first are the ones that paid to be there. A real listing from someone with no money to spend is almost invisible.

You cannot search for what you need

You may want a job in the two suburbs you can reach by train, or a room under a set price with your own bathroom. That is a normal thing to ask for. Most places cannot search that way.

Everything tries to be everything

When a platform does a little of everything, it does none of it well enough to be worth opening again.

So Chaana does not try to do everything. It picks the few things our community does every week, and does each one properly.

Nobody was giving people both: post it from your phone on the train, or manage it properly from a computer later. Same account, either way.

Roshan, on why Chaana has a dashboard as well as an app

I handle the technical side.

My day to day work is WordPress, Cloudflare, n8n, custom applications and mobile apps. I work on the servers behind a site and on the pages people see, and I look after a large number of client sites: hosting, security and keeping them running.

If something can be built better, I want to know how. Chaana is that habit pointed at a problem I had myself.

Servers and infrastructure
I look after hosting, domains and email delivery. This is the part you never notice until it stops working. I work on the server and on the page you see.
Automation
I build systems that do repeated work for people, mostly with n8n. If someone is doing the same job by hand twice a week, a computer should be doing it.
Security
I keep sites safe and up to date. Every client site we look after is updated and watched, so problems are found early instead of late.
Custom applications
I use WordPress and Elementor when they suit the job. When they do not, I build it from scratch with PHP, Laravel or another language.
Mobile
The Chaana app is built with React Native. The app and this website read the same database, so both always show the same information.
AI, used well
I use AI every day when I write code. I keep testing where it really saves time, and I leave it out where it does not.

Either out exploring, or at home in the middle of a new project.

When I am not working I am usually somewhere new with family and friends, or at home working on a project that started as “just a quick test”. Chaana started that way too.

See it for yourself.

Every screen on this site is the real app, built from the same code. You can browse the whole directory without signing up.
